How many times have you hit snooze in the morning telling yourself you will hit the gym tomorrow. But that ever elusive tomorrow never comes. Then one fine day, you see yourself in the mirror and ask who this unfit person standing in front of you is!
What if you could get fit without hitting the gym? What if you could incorporate little things in your routine habits that could help keep you in good shape?
We have put together tips to staying fit without workouts that lazy people will absolutely love!
Walk as much as you can
Walking is an easy form of exercise that you can practice and incorporate in your daily routine. 20 minutes of walking is enough to start with. Walk to the coffee shop, walk to the subway and walk to work (if it’s not too far). If you are at home simply talking on the phone, get up and talk a walk while you are at it.
Take the stairs
Try to skip the elevator and take the stairs instead. Even if your office or apartment is on the 20th floor, you can still climb the stairs for a few of those floors before you hop onto the elevator.
Turn chores into workouts
Vacuuming, scrubbing the floors or any other chore that requires physical movement of the body can also burn a few calories.
Don’t just sit while watching TV
There is nothing on TV that requires your full concentration while watching it. Instead of just sitting on the couch while watching TV, do a few push-ups, squats, jumping jacks and burpees. You will not only develop a healthy habit but will soon realize how easy you find these exercises to be.
You can start yoga at home with the easiest poses which do not require an expert. It will not feel as intensive as a gym workout yet give you great results, instead of feeling exhausted, you will feel energized even after a small session.
Introduce outdoor activities into your social life
Take a hike with your family or friends on the weekend. Indulge in some rock climbing, rowing or cycling. Doing these activities in a group makes them more fun and you are likely to continue with more such activities together.
Working out on a regular basis is no excuse for eating junk. Eat healthy foods. Cut sugar, minimize salt intake, limit caffeine intake, drink lots of water, eat lots of fruits and vegetables and stay as far away from processed food as you can.
Dance your way to fitness
Dancing is the best way to keep fit. It keeps you healthy and burns more calories than most of other form of activities. Put a number on your phone or your music pod and there you go. Put your steps forward, shake your body, and move your legs. Do it for 25 to 30 minutes while having fun.
