Facials are a great way to cleanse, exfoliate and nourish your skin. But it can be pretty expensive to get your facials done regularly from a salon. If you follow the correct procedure, you can do a facial right in the comfort of your home with the products that you love and know that they suit you.
The steps for salon style facial are given below.
Use a gentle cleanser. Squeeze a small amount and apply on your face in circular motion using your fingertips. Wash thoroughly with normal water.
Choose the cleanser according to your skin type. Either use a foaming cleanser suitable for all skin types or use cream cleanser for normal skin and gel cleanser for oily skin.
If you do not wish to use a chemical cleanser, you can simply use honey to wash your face.
Either boil some water in a bowl, remove from stove and drape a towel over your head to steam your face over the water or use a portable home sauna. Steaming helps in easy cleaning of clogged pores.
Use a mild exfoliating scrub and gently scrub all over your face and neck. Wipe it off with a clean wash cloth. Exfoliating helps in removing dead skin cells.
You can easily use ingredients from your kitchen to prepare a scrub. Fine sugar and honey combination acts as a gentle exfoliation scrub.

Use a mud mask (for oily skin) or a fruit mask (for dry or normal skin) based on your skin type. Let the mask dry for 15-20 minutes and then remove with a wet towel.
If you want to try home remedies, you can use fuller’s earth and turmeric for a mud mask. For a fruit mask, you can mash fruits like bananas, papaya, strawberry together to make a fruit mask.
Either use your favorite toner or use rose water. You can also rub ice cubes on your face; wrap the ice cubes in a piece of cloth first.
Use a moisturizer that suits your skin. Typically oily skin types are recommended gel-based moisturizers and normal/dry skin are advised to use cream-based moisturizers.
Alternatively, you can also use beauty oil blend according to your skin type and give your face a nice massage as well. When buying face oils, look for ones with low comedogenic (pore clogging) rating. Certain oils are quite drying in nature; always use those with moisturizing carrier oils.
