A house that is well-decorated and organized looks good but one that smells nice too feels wonderful. You can make your home smell nice and fresh with simple tricks, most of which you can find even in your kitchen.
So let us dive in and find out the simplest ways to make your home smell like a dream.
Let fresh air in
Before you prepare to infuse the indoor air with a scent, make sure to remove stale air first. Open your windows early in the morning to let fresh air in. This will eliminate any stale smells. It is the simplest trick in the book.
Nothing smells better than fresh flowers. You can spread them out throughout the house in small vases, keeping them on tables and counters.
Scented candles can be found in many different fragrances. They are nice accessories for your décor too. Just keep them away from drapes and anything that can catch fire when you light them. If you don’t want to buy one, you can easily prepare one at home and save some money too.
Essential oil diffusers
You can either pick an electronic diffuser or ceramic/glass vase with diffuser reeds. Simply pour water and add a few drops of your favorite essential oil. While the electronic diffuser will create a mist that carries the scent throughout the house, the vase-diffuser reed like a scented candle will give off an aroma around the space it is kept.
Scented wax cubes
They are like scented candles without the open flame. Instead you keep the scented wax cubes in a lamp that will melt it. Just like scented candles, these can also be prepared at home.
Indoor air purifying plants
Certain plants like fern, aloe vera, peace lily, snake plant, etc, are wonderful indoor plants that not only add aesthetic appeal but also clean and purify the air.
Gel air fresheners
You easily find gel fresheners in any departmental store, like the ones you keep in your car. Strategically place them around the house for a subtly fragrant home. Find gel containers in unique designs to add a little aesthetic to your décor.
Simmer a fragrance in your saucepan
This is one of the easiest and most underrated hacks for fragrance. Place a saucepan on the stove, pour a little water and add herbs like lavender, cinnamon, cloves, etc or lemon peels for a citrus smell. Let this mix simmer for a few hours and smell the beautiful aroma that finds its way to every corner of your house.
You can also pour this mixture in a mason jar and keep it on the counter and tables around the house.
You can use coffee grounds for the saucepan simmer too and have your home smell like a coffee shop.
Lemon to neutralize your fridge’s odor and the bathroom too
With all the kinds of foods and leftovers we keep in our refrigerators, sometimes it makes the fridge smell bad making the space where it is kept feel really stale and dull. Just keep a sliced lemon in your fridge to neutralize the odors and have it smelling fresh like spring. You can do the same for your bathroom.
DIY home fragrance spray
Take an empty and clean spray bottle. Fill it up with water; add lemon, salt and a couple of drops of vanilla extract. Spray this around your house for a beautiful aroma.
Love it. Pin it.
