How To Make Hummus
Hummus is the paste/dip/spread of chickpeas and other beautiful ingredients.
- Full bodied chickpeas boiled
- Garlic a few cloves
- Onion 1 full
- Green chilies 2 to 4
- Olive oil or any other oil you prefer 20 ml
- White Sesame seeds half spoon
Total time:10 minutes.
Pre-Preprations: Boil a bowl of chickpeas.
Take a few cloves of peeled garlic according to your taste and one onion, peel them and cut them in small pieces and then put them in a blender.
Now, take a small piece of ginger and grate it. Put this grated ginger in the blender along with garlic and onion.
Put the lid on the blender and blend all three ingredients to fine paste and put aside.
Take the boiled chickpeas and put them in blender and put the lid of the blender and make a fine paste.
To help with this paste add the some water in which the chickpeas were boiled or just plain water.
After the paste is ready now there are two ways you can approach. First approach is the raw approach:
You take the paste of chickpeas, paste of garlic, onion, ginger and put them all in the blender and pour a little olive oil and salt to taste and mix everything inside the blender.
Take the paste out. Cut the green chili and coriander leaves in small pieces. Garnish the paste with it. You can top everything with the white sesame seeds.
The second way is sauté way:
Take a frying pan put some olive oil and put the pan on the heat or gas stove.
Take garlic, onion and ginger paste and cut green chilli in small pieces, sesame seeds and put them all in the olive oil. Let it cook until its golden brown. Now put the chickpea paste in it.
Let the dish sizzle for 5 to 10 minutes in the pan.
After that switch the gas or heat stove off and carefully take the pan and put the dish in bowl.
Cut the coriander leaves after washing them, to small pieces.
Garnish the dish.
Serve the dish cooled.
Cooking tip: This dish can be used as chutney or a bread/sandwich spread and is nutrition rich.
