A decade ago you could grow a beard and keep it as you wished, your beard could end where you chest hair began. This is not the case anymore. People are now more concerned with the groomed and manicured look. Unkempt beard now is the sign of laziness.
When you start to grow the beard you look awkward after a week or two into the process. If you maintain a proper method while your beard is growing or is fully-grown as per your desired length then you have to follow some procedures.
If you want to have a beard, that should look good and you should be dateable, employable and approachable and look like a thorough gentleman then follow along.
The aim of the process is to take you to the point where people come to admire you for your looks and manners.
Wash the beard with a beard shampoo and then condition it. This will make it soft and manageable.
Dry it with a towel and then take a brush and run it downwards and outwards. This will let your inconsistence length hair stand out.
Do not do this step in the sink; use a cloth or a newspaper to collect the hair trimmings.
Take a trimmer or a clipper and trim to the desired length. All round length is not recommended, as it will give you a look that will not be sharp. Use scissors, as it will give you an idea of where things are going. If you use a trimmer or clipper then it will be too late to revert back as it will just mow down everything quickly. So, use a good pair of scissors instead.
However, if you want a simple look than go for the equal length. Follow all the steps except the small trimming parts in the next few lines for the all-equal length look.
Go for a gradual increase of length from neck (shorter) towards the chin (longer). Do the same for the face from cheek and temples (shorter) towards the chin (longer).
Trim the moustaches if you want normal moustache but in my experience if you keep a beard then keep a long moustache that will match the beard. If you want to keep the moustache then comb the hair outwards and make a twist towards sideways and upwards.
Use clippers or trimmer or you can also use a razor to get a neat and clean look. Shave everything above the cheeks and temples lines and below neckline to get a clean and sharp look.
Place one or two fingers on your Adam’s apple and trim or shave everything that is below the finger. This will make a clear demarcation of your beard from your body hair and will give you a much clean and groomed look.
To help you in this, make an imaginary “U” shaped line from behind the ears till the Adam’s apple and below this line everything has to go.
Now again comb the beard and see for any out of place hair. Snip it with a scissor and now you are done with all the snipping and cutting.
Run your hand and fingers through the hair to clear it of any remaining trimmed hair that’s left out. You can use a brush for this purpose.
Now apply good beard oil like you would oil your head hair. After this run a comb through the beard and style it. If you still find any stray hair then go ahead and snip it. You are now done. Style it the way that you like. Click a few photographs of yourself to see what style you like.
